The thirteenth session of North Eurasia Climate Outlook Forum (NEACOF-13)

Within the framework of the programme activities, the North Eurasian Climate Centre (NEACC) organized the 13-th session of North Eurasian Climate Outlook Forum (NEACOF-13) from 14 to 16 November 2017, in Moscow. Hydrometeorological.Center of Russia hosted this meeting.

The objective of the NEACOF-13 was a comprehensive discussion of the issues of predictability, monitoring and prediction of the short-term climate variations. The issuance of consensus meteorological forecast for the upcoming winter season 2017/2018 over North Eurasia territory was the main outcome of the NEACOF-13. Leading specialists of CIS NMHS on the area of long-range forecasting, climatologists from research institutions and centres, specialists, postgraduate students of the universities with the speciality in meteorology and climatology, representatives of the social-economic sectors interested in climate information usage took part on the platform of NEACOF-13.

Programme  focus on:

  • improvement of the methods and technologies of the climate prediction;
  • large-scale modes of atmospheric variability and its predictability;
  • climate system assessment for the upcoming season in the North Eurasia regions;
  • consensus forecast of climate conditions of winter 2017-2018.

The Training Course entitled “Basis of the Ensemble Seasonal Prediction” will precede the Forum and scheduled on November 14, 2017.
